La Fura dels Baus XXX
Free Interpretation of Marquis de Sade's
"Philosophy in the Boudoir"
This representation by theatre company "La Fura dels Baus" pretends to be, in my opinion, true to the provocational spirit the Divine Marquis de Sade brought onto his ERA. EVERYTHING GOES as long as it's for our personal pleasure or ego. Power has no moral and should therefore ...poder todo... without being tied down to the social conventions or the penal code. The human soul is that immoral, reason why customs and codes are imosed on the weak and servile to keep them at the feet of the powerful. It's obvious that my pretending to explain the philosophy of "Philosophy in the Boudoir" in a few lines is ridiculous.
It is evident that my pretension to explain the philosophy of the Philosophy in the Dressing table in few lines lines the absurdity. Then sure the book is shelling long disquisitions that question very fully other so many contradictions of our social behaviors, that allow less that each individualized reader sees itself but or reflected in some of them.
I can't end this narration without thinking about my BDSM activities and my gratefulness for being part of Dómina Zara's School. There The Mistress imposes mutual respect and observing the basic safety standars to be able to freely indulge in a variety of games and fantasies. What is hard to believe is that these activities are socially more questionable than many crimes, including homicides, by economic or political motives also known as white collar, being condemned in firm judicial sentences. Paradoxes of life, social contradictions and hypocrecies: the world upside down.
Theatre Company "La Fura dels Baus" premiere their new show 'XXX' in Lorca (Murcia)
A show full of explicit sex, duos, trios and... SM, based on 'Philosophy in the boudoir', written in 1795 by Marquis de Sade, 'ended with massive applause and no desertions...' according to the review of 13/05/02 La Vanguardia. With the company's trademark mixture of reality, fiction and state-of-the-art technology (giant screens, visual effects and a live on-line connection with the famous hard porn theatre Bagdad in Barcelona). this show's endless possibilities aren't difficult to imagine, even less when we consider the company's latest productions...
I have been privileged to see, or rather to attend, nearly all the plays by this group of well-deserved international recognition. Sex has turned from an implicit to a totally explicit issue. In some of their latest shows, it was even the story's leitmotiv.
Incidentally, when I saw OBS I thought most of the play reminded me of the School's latest Fetish Café shows in the Barcelona Erotic Cinema Festival. Which was not that coincidental, as some of the company's members had been among the shows' audience, gathering ideas for the recently premiered play, scheduled to hit some of Europe's most important venues.
We will have the opportunity to see it in July in the Barcelona Grec Summer Festival. By all accounts, the show is fully in the philosophy of the new Dómina Zara® School, soon to be opened. For samples, I recommend a visit to their website www.lafura.com/xxx/, of excellent design and contents.
What about the Barcelona premiere and the new School's opening on the same day...???
